Meditations

Catholic reflections rooted in Scripture and the faith of the Church — quiet places to linger, pray, and look again at mysteries we may have passed by too quickly.

Catholic Meditation

I Am Not Worthy

A reflection on the words of Saint John the Baptist

“The latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to loose.” — John 1:27

John's words open a meditation on humility before Christ, the mystery of His Incarnation, and the astonishment of a God who comes near to those who know they are unworthy.

The Great Reversal

The Lord before whom John would not stoop, stoops before His disciples

“He putteth water into a basin, and began to wash the feet of the disciples.” — John 13:5

From the Incarnation to the Last Supper, the Cross, the Eucharist, and the wedding feast of the Lamb, Christ reveals divine greatness through an astonishing humility of service and self-gift.

These two meditations belong together.
John begins with the confession, “I am not worthy.” Christ answers not by denying our unworthiness, but by stooping down, serving, cleansing, feeding, and giving Himself so that we may share in His life.
